Activity Description

You will be pickedup at the scheduled time at the reception of your accommodation in Sao Filipe and drive arround 1h to cha das Caldeira to start the hike.
This hike starts in the village of Chá das Caldeiras located at 1700 m from the sea level and continues along the path of the Fogo Natural Park with lava paths from ancient eruptions with different colors and volcanic components. This hike will then take you to a forest on Monte Bedja, a dense forest of eurcalyptus, pine trees, cypress and other species endemic to the region. The trails will always follow a descending rhythm on donkey paths until you descend to 1000 meters. After that, the trail continues between coffee plantations and orange, guava and banana trees. From here you can see the sea and the villages of Mosteiros with colorful houses located at sea level. The trail ends in the village of Pai Antonio, located at 400 meters above sea level. Here you will be picked up by your driver and driven by car to the village of Igreja, where you can taste the local coffee and enjoy the coastal view. Then your guide will take you to your accommodation.
